Hachette Children’s Group has scooped a debut children’s book by “YouTube football sensation” SV2, otherwise known as Eman Balogun.
Leah James, editor and publishing director of colour non-fiction and licensing at Hachette Children’s Group, bought world rights to SV2’s Ultimate Football Academy from Sanmi Balogun of the Escal8 Agency, and the book will be published in paperback under the Hodder Children’s Books imprint on 15th August 2024.
“From epic pro secrets to super smooth tricks and skills to the top 10 best assists, this photographic guide is crammed full of everything football kids will ever need to know,” the synopsis says. “Packed with fantastic photos of SV2, including how-to step-by-steps for epic tips and tricks and crammed full of incredible football challenges plus profiles on SV2’s top elite footballers, including Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Chloe Kelly, and more- it will be the perfect guide for every young football fan.”
Balogun is a content creator who produces videos on football, gaming and lifestyle, and has seen his audience grow to over 3.8m subscribers. He has worked with PlayStation, FIFA, Google, and JD Sports, and was scouted for five professional teams in the past — including Swansea, Ipswich and QPR.
James said: “We are so excited to publish the first children’s book from YouTube’s favourite football star, SV2 — aka Eman — just in time for the new football season in August. Eman’s energy bounces off the page as he shares his top tips, tricks, skills, facts and favourite players.”
