Four events you have to check out in South Simcoe this weekend

Bike rodeo, book sale, art display and live jazz all on tap over the next few days, editor writes

Whether you’re looking to take in some top-tier jazz or browse for that next stunning art piece, events in South Simcoe have you covered this weekend.

There will be plenty to do in Bradford and Innisfil Saturday and Sunday. Here’s what’s planned for the coming days:

Bike safety rodeo

All elementary school students are invited to this free event at Alcona Glen Elementary School (1310 Innisfil Beach Rd.) on Saturday, June 8 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Young riders can have their bicycles inspected and helmets properly fitted. There will be lots of fun activities and a bicycle safety course to show off some budding skills. More details can be found at southsimcoepolice.on.ca.

Book sale returns

The Friends of the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library will host a giant used book sale on June 8 and 9. The event will be held at the library (425 Holland St. W.) Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. More details can be found at calendar.townofbwg.com.

Art on the patio

The Innisfil ideaLAB and Library’s Lakeshore branch (971 Innisfil Beach Rd.) welcomes the Sandycove Acres Art Club’s Art on the Patio Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet the talented club members and view a variety of work, both for pleasure and purchase. For further information, email [email protected], call 705-431-7410 or visit innisfil.bibliocommons.com.

Huronia Hot Strings: Live in BWG

Enjoy an afternoon of ‘Jazz Manouche’ as popularized in 1940s Europe by Django Reihardt, Stéfan Grappelli and the Hot Club De Paris. Insights into the history and development of this exciting style of jazz will be provided by Huronia Hot Strings band leader Tom Malone. This is part of the Kool FM Barrie Jazz and Blues Festival. The event takes place at the Bradford library Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. For more, visit calendar.townofbwg.com.
