Defected Records is set to release βHouse Masters β Marshall Jeffersonβ on May 29th, an expansive 40-track anthology celebrating the storied career of house music icon, Marshall Jefferson.
Covering five decades of his career, Jeffersonβs anthology is a veritable treasure trove of house music anthems. Speaking on the compilation, Jefferson expressed his pride, βThe music on this compilation is some of my best work, and Iβm very proud. Hopefully, someone else will enjoy it too. Itβs an honor to be a Defected House Master; itβs almost like being in a House Music Hall of Fame; some very talented people have come before me, and I hope I continue their legacy. These are my best songs, and I hope people can not only dance to them but also get inspiration.β
Jeffersonβs journey began in the halls of Chicagoβs Universal Recording Studios. He soon became a crucial presence in the cityβs vibrant 1980s house music scene. The compilation opens with his much-lauded record βMove Your Bodyβ, a testament to his enduring influence.
