Confluence Books, a second-hand book store in Carbondale, donated five hundred and seventy-six dollars and fifteen cents to the Southern Illinois Collaborative Kitchen. The Collaborative Kitchen provides meals to those struggling with food insecurity and supports local restaurants.
Confluence Books raised the money from their October Buck-a-Book sales held at the Carbondale Farmers Market. They will continue with the Buck-a-Book sales through November, selling Christmas-themed books while raising money for Toys for Tots.
Sarah Heyer of Confluence Books says the store will continue to help the community. “The whole community participates and people appreciate what’s happening. They like getting books at a reasonable price, and they like that it’s going to a charity that they care about.”
