Pine & Granite Press has published Jacqui Morrison’s sixth book entitled Missed Deadline. It is romantic suspense and courtroom drama.

On Sunday, July 14 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Jacqui Morrison will sign books at Georgian Bay Books in Midland. It is her second year attending at this bookstore.

Brenda Heald edited the book and Morrison did more workshopping through her writing group. The writing group came about after a week-long summer workshop at the Humber School for Writers in Toronto. Morrison also has a critique partner in Michigan.

Sudbury novelist A-M Mawhiney states: “Missed Deadline deals with contemporary issues, like human rights, workplace environment, blended family dynamics with dramatic yet plausible tensions and dynamics between the core characters. Her character arcs are well formulated. The child, Hope, becomes the central link to each thread of the story. Morrison weaves these threads into an intricate tapestry that leaves the reader satisfied.”

Morrison states: “I am drawn to strong female protagonists, and Sarah Julian is the epitome of resilience. At the beginning of the novel, Sarah is a carefree newspaper reporter in Toronto. Suddenly pregnant and ghosted, she endures all kinds of stress. Especially when the father of the baby returns and threatens custody. The 420-page novel takes place in Toronto beginning in 1990.”

Morrison’s earlier books include Kaitlyn Wolfe, Crown Attorney, Terri’s Journey, The Vigilante, Escape the Castle and Shaken No More. Copies are available in local bookstores, the library and online.

Jacqui Morrison writes her novels in Parry Sound and Midland. She is a long-time summer resident of Midland. Her home base is in Parry Sound.
