Morecambe woman’s launch for inspiring new book to be held at Lancaster hospice

Kay Backhouse

A woman from Morecambe will hold a ‘Meet the Author’ event at St John’s Hospice to mark the launch of an inspiring book about her personal journey dealing with grief.

Kay Backhouse released her first book ‘Losing You, Finding Me’ earlier this year inspired by her brother Syd, who died of cancer in 2019.

The event will be held at The Courtyard Cafe at the Lancaster hospice on Wednesday July 10 at 6pm to 7.30pm.

It will include a reception with drinks, cake and biscuits, an introduction by Maddy Bass, director of nursing and quality at the hospice, a talk from Kay about her book and a Q&A session.

‘Losing You, Finding Me’ is available at Amazon, where it says: “In this book, Kay takes us with her on a deeply intimate and transformative journey from deep grief to personal freedom.

“She helps to awaken us all to the possibility of living a truly authentic and unapologetic life in a world that so often tries to dictate who we should be.

“This is a truly inspiring account of one woman’s crusade to save her brother and ultimately herself. Utterly raw and vulnerable, Kay shows us all that we only get this one precious life, and we should never waste a moment of it.”

Kay was raised in the Yorkshire Dales, then emigrated to Australia where she lived with husband, Rick, and their children for 10 years. She now lives with her family in Morecambe.

Through her writing, yoga practise and work at the hospice she spends most days working with adults and children, helping them to navigate their way through grief and  loss.

The book is available from Kay’s website HERE.
