7 Hindi anthology shows & movies on Netflix & more that are full of thrill, suspense & slice-of-life elements

In the evolving world of modern entertainment, the storytelling format of anthology shows and movies has burgeoned, captivating audiences with their intricate interplay of suspense, mystery, and the raw essence of life. This genre has evolved into a veritable storytelling powerhouse, with its roots tracing back to the bold experimentation of television’s bygone era. Iconic television shows like Aahat and Rishtey etched their names in the anthology pantheon, weaving tales that audiences still remember. The cinematic realm, too, embraced this innovative format with titles like Bombay Talkies and Darna Mana Hai. The anthology shows, and movies also made strides on OTT platforms, with titles like Lust Stories and Unpaused. While the world of anthology shows and movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and more is pretty broad, we’ve curated a selection of Hindi anthology shows and movies on Netflix and more that blur the lines between reality and fiction, suspense and revelation, and love in all its guises.

7 Hindi anthology shows & movies on Netflix & more that are full of thrill, suspense & slice-of-life elements

1. Modern Love Mumbai – Amazon Prime Video

Hindi anthology movies

Think of anthologies, and Amazon Prime Video’s Modern Love series is the first one to come to mind. Modern Love Mumbai follows in the footsteps of its two celebrated predecessors. A star-studded ensemble, it features actors like Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anurag Kashyap, Chitrangda Singh, Pratik Gandhi, Ranveer Brar, Tanuja, Sarika, Arshad Warsi, among others, and embodies the multifaceted dimensions of love. Through the lens of six eloquent tales, Modern Love Mumbai intricately weaves stories of devotion, discovery, and human connections in all forms – parental, sexual, romantic, marital or even self-love.

2. Ankahi Kahaniya – Netflix

Hindi anthology

Ankahi Kahaniya is one of the most engaging anthology movies on Netflix. Talented filmmakers such as Abhishek Chaubey, Saket Chaudhary, and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari unspool three unconventional love narratives against the mesmerizing backdrop of Mumbai. Here, the camera reveals layers of emotion that resonate with love, loss, and yearning. The title features Abhishek Banerjee, Zoya Hussain, and Kunal Kapoor.

3. LSD: Love, Sex, Dhokha – Netflix, Jio Cinema, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar

Hindi Anthology movies and shows

Dibakar Banerjee’s masterful direction casts a probing spotlight on the disparate lives of three couples impacted by the voyeuristic nature of modern society. From the MMS of a woman being leaked to an incident on the casting couch to the haunting echoes of an honour killing, the camera is an unrelenting witness to these lives that are loosely connected. Also, check out movies & web series on the dark side of showbiz and fame here.

4. Feels Like Ishq – Netflix

This anthology on Netflix brings six relatable stories where emotions cascade and love blossoms in the most unexpected places and moments.

5. Kanpuriye – Disney+ Hotstar

Kanpuriye is an engaging narrative that thrusts us into the aspirations and hurdles of three spirited Kanpur lads portrayed by Aparshakti Khurana, Divyendu Sharma, and Harsh Mayar. Amidst hustling to fulfill their dreams and ambitions, the trio navigates a landscape of varied challenges. The title also features Vijay Raaz, Rajshri Deshpande and Harshita Gaur.

6. Ghost Stories – Netflix

Embrace the shiver-inducing thrill induced by Ghost Stories — four eerie and supernatural tales by Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap, and Karan Johar. The anthology features Janhvi Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sukant Goel, and Vijay Verma, among others.

7. Yuva – Netflix

Hindi Anthology movies and shows

Yuva is a brilliant Hindi narrative by Mani Ratnam, inspired by Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Amores Perros. Watch three riveting stories intricately connected by a single pivotal event. The film has an ensemble cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Rani Mukherjee, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vivek Oberoi with A.R. Rahman’s musical brilliance adding a layer of depth to the story. This one is a personal favourite and a must-watch!
