The makers of legendary writer MT Vasudevan Nair‘s upcoming anthology film took to their social media on July 14, Sunday, to announce the title of this long-delayed project. A Long-Awaited Project

Back in 2021, an exciting announcement was made that many veteran actors and technicians of Malayalam cinema, including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan, directors Priyadarshan, Santhosh Sivan, and others are teaming up for an anthology film that would be based on nine literary works by writer MT Vasudevan Nair. On the occasion of the writer’s birthday in 2023, he celebrated the day with actor Mohanlal and the cast and crew that was shooting the adaptation of his famous story Olavum Theeravum.

The web series was initially supposed to be released on Netflix. However, the OTT platform backed out due to creative differences with the film’s creative team. A few days ago, it was reported that Zee5 has stepped in as the new streaming partner for the long-awaited project.

The anthology series will have nine different episodes based on the Jnanpith Award-winning writer’s nine famous short stories, including Olavum Theeravum, Kadugannawa Oru Yathra, Abhayam Thedi, Swargam Thurakunna Samayam, Shilalikhithangal, Vilpana, and a few others.

Actors including Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Kamal Haasan, are set to appear in various episodes of Manorathangal. The series also stars Biju Menon, Fahadh Faasil, Indrajith Sukumaran, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Asif Ali, Madhoo, Vineeth, Surabhi Lakshmi, Ann Augustine, and others in pivotal roles. Priyadarshan has reportedly directed two stories in the anthology – Mohanlal starrer Olavum Theeravum, and Biju Menon starrer Shilalikhithangal. Santhosh Sivan, Ranjith, Mahesh Narayanan, Jayaraj, and others have helmed the other segments.
