A new book titled Walt Disney Treasures: Personal Art and Artifacts from The Walt Disney Family Museum will be available beginning Oct. 3, 2024, featuring iconic objects from Waltβs personal and professional life.

The book was compiled by Waltβs grandson, Walter E. D. Miller, along with Executive Director Kirsten Komoroske and museum staff to commemorate The Walt Disney Family Museumβs 15th anniversary. It includes over 250 images of treasured Disney family artifacts from the museumβs extensive collection and the Disney familyβs personal archives that are significant to Waltβs personal and professional life, some which can only be seen inside The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, Calif., while others have never been seen by the public.

βEvery item featured in this book tells a storyβsome that are well-known Disney lore, and others that are rarely toldβeach representing an important brick that helped build a global empire, but also exploring who the person Walt Disney truly was,β says Miller. βJust as one would experience when visiting the museum in San Francisco, California, readers can now discover Waltβs story like never before.β
Some of the unique personal treasures featured in the book are Waltβs handwritten designs of Epcot, a bronzed hat gifted to his wife Lillian, original animation artwork from Disney animated films, concept art for Disneyland attractions, Waltβs miniature steam engine the Lilly Belle, and Waltβs record-setting collection of Academy Awards.
