Still Here: A Story of Resilience, Faith, and Purpose
There are stories that simply pass through our awareness, and then there are stories that stay with us—stories that challenge, inspire, and ultimately transform how we see our own lives. Dr. Samuel L. Malone’s journey is one of those rare and powerful narratives.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised by his grandparents, Dr. Malone’s early life was shaped by discipline, structure, and values that would later anchor him through life’s most difficult seasons. As an only child, he developed a deep sense of self-awareness and responsibility, guided by the wisdom and love instilled in him daily. From his grandparents, he learned integrity, compassion, humility, and perseverance—principles that would become essential when life tested him in unimaginable ways.
“What inspired me to pursue writing,” Dr. Malone shares, “was a deep desire to turn pain into purpose and life experiences into something meaningful that could help others.”
For him, writing did not begin as a career aspiration—it began as survival. It was a way to process emotions, reflect on hardship, and make sense of life’s challenges. Over time, however, what started as a personal outlet evolved into a calling. Writing became a bridge—connecting his lived experiences with others who were searching for hope, direction, and healing.
A defining moment in Dr. Malone’s life came on July 19, 2019, when he suffered a life-altering stroke. In a single moment, everything changed. The independence he once knew was replaced with stillness. He was unable to speak or move, and the future he had envisioned suddenly became uncertain.
Yet, it was within that stillness that something profound began to unfold.
“In the silence of recovery, I had to rediscover who I was beyond my abilities,” he reflects. “I found strength I didn’t know I had.”
What followed was not just physical rehabilitation—it was a complete transformation of mindset, purpose, and identity. That experience became the foundation for his upcoming memoir, Still Here, a deeply personal account of survival, resilience, and rebuilding.
Unlike many books, Still Here is not written to impress—it is written to connect. Every page reflects authenticity, vulnerability, and truth. It speaks to those who have faced setbacks, loss, or uncertainty, reminding them that even in the darkest moments, there is still light ahead.
Dr. Malone’s writing is guided by real-life experiences, faith, and emotional depth. He writes from the heart, allowing his truth to shape his message. His goal is not just to tell a story, but to create impact—to help readers feel seen, understood, and encouraged.

Today, his work extends far beyond authorship. As a Certified Humanitarian Life Coach and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Dr. Malone dedicates his life to helping others rebuild. Through coaching, mentorship, and speaking, he provides practical tools and emotional support for individuals navigating life’s challenges.
His approach is rooted in empathy and lived experience. He understands struggle—not from observation, but from personal reality. That understanding allows him to connect with people in a way that is genuine and transformative.
His message remains consistent and powerful:
“If you are still here, your story is not over.”
Through Still Here, Dr. Malone offers more than inspiration—he offers hope. A reminder that pain can be transformed, that healing is possible, and that purpose can emerge even from life’s most difficult chapters.
