Barrow author Paula Hillman to release new thriller book

Halfmoon Lane is the title of Paula Hillman’s next piece of work. The book is a thriller set in a northern town with aspects of Walney Island lighthouse and Barrow town centre in it.

The author explained the inspiration for the story came from staring at an alleyway in town.

She said: “There is an alleyway between buildings that runs from Barrow town square into the town centre and that is where I got my inspiration – that is where the fictional Halfmoon Lane comes from.

This new thriller sees how one weekend of passion puts a woman at the centre of a scandal that threatens to bury her.

“The book is about a media business in the town centre and this thing happens to the owner. She has a fling with a guy she meets in Halfmoon Lane and then he winds up as a body in Halfmoon Lane and of course, she is on the prime suspect list,” Paula said.

“The main character lives in the cottage that is attached to Walney lighthouse and she is a wild swimmer – there is a lot of wild sea swimming in this story.”

Paula explained that contrary to her latest novel Chapel Field, this book is not as emotional but ‘gripping and quite spicy in places’.

She added: “I love this story. This is one of those stories that you can’t give too much away because it will spoil it if people know what the twist is.”

Her books have been purchased all around the world with the novel Chapel Field being at the top of bestselling lists on Amazon.

Paula said she would ‘love’ to have one of her books turned into a TV series or a movie.

“Especially my first book Seaview House I just think it would make such a good television story,” she said.

Halfmoon Lane will officially be launched on July 8 through her publisher Bloodhound Books.
