A Thousand Suns Web Series

“Don’t be afraid. I’m not here to take you… You can help me. And I can help you.” It’s time to discover new worlds. Time to explore unique galaxies and strange planets. A Thousand Suns is the latest creation from a filmmaker known as “Macgregor”, produced by a company called Blackmilk Studio. The sci-fi anthology series set in the distant future has launched online – all six episodes (to start) are available on YouTube for free. Macgregor says his team of filmmakers, including Ruairi Robinson & Tyson Wade Johnston, worked to craft “films that serve as a gateway to our hopes, dreams… and nightmares.” We posted a trailer last week, and now the first round of films are out. This is similar to Neill Blomkamp’s Oats Studios or the Love Death + Robots series on Netflix, featuring fresh ideas brought vividly to life in films that are under 10 minutes. So far I’m astonished by how good all six of these look. Incredible work! Their website even has a total of 22 episodes listed but the rest aren’t available yet – only listed as coming soon. “It’s the future. How far? Far enough that our modern society is little more than a ghost haunting humanity. Far enough that we’ve spread far beyond Earth, off onto many worlds.” As a big sci-fi geek, THIS is what I love to see. Watch them below.

“So what’s become of us? Humanity, I mean. Did we fall into ruin, destroying ourselves via disaster either environmental, nuclear or otherwise? Nope. We’re still here. Turns out humanity is resilient against even the worst of odds. Did capitalism collapse & give way to intergalactic utopia? Also no. Rapacious systems of hierarchy continue, now with an infinite number of worlds on which to grow. Turns out humanity will always hunger, will always push, will always exploit. Did old systems of belief and faith shatter in the new light of a scientific renaissance? No again. Instead, our many beliefs underwent metamorphosis after metamorphosis, re-emerging in forms both familiar and strange. Turns out humanity will always need its myths, may in fact be defined by them. In A Thousand Suns humanity is out there, exploring new worlds, forging new and daring paths, still dragging along the remnants of the past, still undeniably human…”

Introducing A Thousand Suns, a mind-bending sci-fi anthology series that explores visions of humanity’s past, present and future. These are produced by Los Angeles production company Blackmilk Studio – visit their official site for more.
