Norwich Forum Writers to mark milestone with new anthology

The group, which began as part of a Millennium Library initiative, aims to encourage more people to engage with its services.

Following the success of their first anthology ‘Timepieces’ in 2019, they now invite new members to contribute to their forthcoming publication.

NFW coordinator Hilary Hanbury said: “We managed to continue throughout lockdown on Zoom.

“Although a core group of between ten and twelve remained, we would like to increase these numbers to ensure anyone who wants to write, whether it’s prose, poetry or screenwriting, gets the opportunity.

“It’s an inclusive group in every way.”

A new member Laurence Storey, said: “As I am neurodiverse, it was extremely refreshing for me to be welcomed into a group with a similar interest and a convivial atmosphere.

“I think I’m a better writer now as well.”

NFW plans to publish the new anthology by early 2025.

Group member Tony Axelrad, who joined in 2022, said: “Sharing my work and receiving feedback has not only helped me gain a more balanced perspective on my writing, it has also stimulated my inspiration and commitment to keep going.”

Jan Williams, the group’s library link, said: “It’s so easy to sit in your own space writing, but it can also be a lonely space.

“We love seeing new people grow in confidence and be inspired through attending the group, so if you enjoy writing and maybe need some inspiration come and join us.”

NFW meetings are held fortnightly on Fridays, 10.30am-12.30pm, at the Millennium Library.
