Trailer Of Malayalam Anthology Series Manorathangal Out

Three years ago, news of a collaboration between eight directors and a large cast of veteran Malayalam actors for an unnamed project created a lot of buzz. This project, which has generated considerable excitement since 2021, consists of nine segments, each adapted from a renowned story by Jnanpith Award-winning author and screenwriter-director MT Vasudevan Nair.

Following a lengthy wait, the series, titled Manorathangal, is finally ready for release, and its official trailer has been unveiled. The 106-second trailer begins with actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan introducing MT’s distinguished legacy.

As the trailer continues, it provides glimpses of the different segments in the series, featuring a wide range of actors, including Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty. The trailer highlights the distinctiveness of each story, showcasing that they are set in various locations and periods. Mohanlal’s segment is depicted in black-and-white, while Mammootty’s segment appears more intense. From the looks of it, Kamal Haasan is not part of the stories but will probably be the narrator of the series.

Alongside Malayalam superstars like Mohanlal and Mammootty, the series also features prominent actors such as Fahadh Faasil, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Asif Ali, Biju Menon, Shanthi Krishna, Madhoo, Nadiya Moidu, Indrans, the late Nedumudi Venu, Surabhi Lakshmi, Siddique, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Aparna Balamurali in significant roles.

The anthology series includes segments like Olavum Theeravum and Shilalikhatam, directed by Priyadarshan. Kadugannava Oru Yathra is helmed by Ranjith, Kazhcha by Shyamaprasad, Vilpana by Aswathy V Nair, Sherlock by Mahesh Narayanan, Swargam Thurakkuna Samayam by Jayarajan Nair, Abhyam Theedi Vendum by Santosh Sivan, and Kadalkkattu by Rathish Ambat. Priyadarshan also serves as the showrunner for the series.

Manorathangal will be available for streaming on OTT platform Zee5 from August 15 onwards in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi.
