Get ready for some of Hollywood’s biggest stars to teach us a thing or two about climate change. ‘Extrapolations’ will see Meryl Streep, Kit Harington, David Schwimmer and plenty more actors star in the anthology series.
The scripted series comes from the mind of writer, director, and producerΒ Scott Z. Burns. In the past, he has written the script of 2007’s ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’, as well as that movie we all re-watched last year and instantly regretted it, ‘Contagion’. He also wrote and produced Streep’s Netflix effort ‘The Laundromat’.
Currently in the middle of production,Β ‘Extrapolations’Β is set to tell eight interconnected stories about how the earthβs changing climate will affect “love, faith, work, and family on a personal and human scale”.
Streep joins the cast in an undisclosed role, while Harington will play an industrial CEO called Nicholas Bilton and Schwimmer joins as Harris Goldblatt, a father to a teenage girl.
Also among the cast are Matthew Rhys (‘The Americans’) who will play a real estate developer;Β Sienna Miller (‘Layer Cake’) as a marine biologist;Β Gemma Chan (‘Crazy Rich Asians’) as a banker and single mother;Β Tahar Rahim (‘The Serpent’) as a man struggling with memory loss;Β Daveed Diggs (‘Hamilton’) who will play a Rabbi in south Florida; andΒ Adarsh GouravΒ (‘The White Tiger’) as a driver for hire.
Burns said in a statement: “The only thing we know for sure about the future is that we are all going there togetherβ and weβre taking with us our hopes, our fears, our appetites, our creativity, our capacity for love and our predilection to cause pain.
“These are the same tools that storytellers have been using since the beginning of time. Our show is just using them to keep time from running out.”
