
READING – Kicking a series of talks about the budgetary impacts of the proposed Killam and Senior Center projects, the Finance Committee is set to meet in the community room at Reading Public Library on Tuesday, May 28.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with a discussion about Town Finance 101 and an overview about the Killam School Building Project. Then, there will be an overview of both the Senior/Community Center Project and the Community Preservation Act. To conclude, there will be a discussion on a future financial forum/a project update series meeting dates.
The meeting can also be accessed via Zoom through a link found on the Town of Reading website.

Elected officials to attend Financial Forum on Tuesday
A spring financial forum focusing on town finance 101 and capital projects will be held on May 28.
The forum will be held in the Reading Public Library’s Community Room starting at 7 p.m. According to the event description, those who attend the forum will “join town staff and elected officials for a discussion of the current capital projects before the town.”
Groups like the Killam School Building Committee, Select Board, and more will be in attendance.

Author Stephen Puleo to visit library Wednesday
The library will host Stephen Puleo, author of “The Great Abolitionist: Charles Sumner and the Fight for a More Perfect Union” for a talk on May 29.
Puleo will discuss his eighth book in the library’s community rooms from 7-8:30 p.m. The book, a biography about “a forgotten civil rights hero”, Charles Sumner focuses on his fight against slavery throughout his life. According to the event description, copies of the biography will be available for purchase after the event and those who wish to participate should come early to attain their seats.
