19 Jul Prepare for a literary showdown at The Pioneer Club!
A different kind of quiz night is coming to St Albans in September.
Instead of the usual general knowledge or music based quizzes The Pioneer Club is putting on Book Club Battle! – a quiz night dedicated to all things literary, with the idea that each quiz team is a book club, or team of book enthusiasts.
Hosted by celebrated local authors Matt Arlidge and Becky Alexander and with a full bar and free parking on site it promises to be great fun.
Organiser Jon Prayer said: “As part of my role here at The Pioneer Club I really want to try and raise the cultural profile of the venue and this is a great, fun way of doing just that. There are lots of book clubs here in St Albans and we’d love to bring them together. We’re looking forward to hosting the event and have some great prizes on offer as well.”
Co-host Becky Alexander said: “I always wanted there to be more book and arts events in St Albans so I am very pleased Pioneer is doing this. A quiz all about books! No sports or flags questions – just books! I hope lots of readers and book fans come along to join us.”
Fellow co-host Matt Arlidge added: “I’m thrilled to be co-hosting this innovative and fun night out at the Pioneer Club. St Albans is packed with talented writers and keen readers, so I’m sure the place will be packed as we endeavour to find out who the best-read, brainiest local bookworms are!”
