Andrew Skilleter’s new art book, Illuminart 3, spotlights more of his Doctor Who art – downthetubes.net

The final volume of Illuminart, a trilogy of art books spotlighting illustrator Andrew Skilleter’s Doctor Who work, is available to pre-order now.

Illuminart 3 – The Doctor Who Art of Andrew Skilleter

Due for publication this Autumn, Illuminart 3 – The Doctor Who Art of Andrew Skilleter, a 144-page hardback book, continues to showcase Andrew’s work from a career spanning over fifty years in the publishing industry.

This final volume of the Trilogy covers more of Andrew’s Doctor Who art – the Target and BBC VHS and the complete New Adventures classic covers, poster prints, calendar art and much more, but also unpublished and unseen artworks.

As with the previous two volumes, he shares sketches, preliminary drawings, in-progress images accompanied by commentaries from himself and fans, giving an intimate insight into the process of his art. Every picture tells a story – and Andrew has quite a few to tell!

Andrew Skilleter’s Doctor Who art spans over four decades, from 1979 to 2024. His work dominated the 1980s and continued into the 1990s. It included over 40 covers for the Target Books Doctor Who novelisations, the much loved Who Dares Poster Prints, the official Doctor Who calendars, the legendary Cybermen book with Cyber Leader David Banks, the iconic Radio Times ‘The Five Doctors’ cover, Doctor Who BBC VHS covers and the Doctor Who – The New Adventures covers.

His artwork has previously been collected in Blacklight, celebrating 15 years of his Doctor Who art published by Virgin,1995 and in the collection of his Dalek art, Exterminart! Published in 2021, Illuminart 1 (2022) and Illuminart 2 (2023).

Outside of Doctor Who, Andrew has also had a varied career as a versatile illustrator.

“Welcome to Book 3 of the Illuminart Trilogy!” says Andrew. “Publication date is Autumn and buyers will be advised ahead of copies being sent out. Illuminart 3 has the same striking design by Robert Hammond and the excellent print quality of Book 1 and 2. It’s in my DNA to deliver high quality on all fronts.”

Illuminart 3 – The Doctor Who Art of Andrew Skilleter  – Classic Edition is only available in hardback and available to pre-order now exclusively from Andrew Skilleter’s website here | Web: andrewskilleter.com
