how AI will revolutionize education

The AI revolution is coming to education. In this event Salman Khan, a pioneer in the world of education technology, will discuss his new book that explores how artificial intelligence and generative technology will transform learning. Brave New Words offers a roadmap for teachers, parents, and students to navigate this exciting (and sometimes intimidating) new world.

Khan will discuss the ins and outs of cutting-edge tools and how they will forever change the way we learn and teach. Rather than approaching the ChatGPT revolution with white-knuckled fear, Khan wants parents and teachers to embrace AI and adapt to it (while acknowledging its imperfections and limitations).

He will not just talk about technology – but also about what this technology means for our society, and the practical implications for administrators, guidance counsellors, and hiring managers who can harness the power of AI in education and the workplace.

Meet our speaker and chair

Salman Khan (@salkhanacademy) is the founder and CEO of Khan Academy, a nonprofit with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. Recognized as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, his lessons on YouTube have revolutionised learning, garnering billions of views globally. Having started out tutoring his young cousin, in the early 2000s Khan developed software that enabled him to scale up this personalized tutoring to other students, posting complimentary videos in the early days of YouTube.

Jon Cardoso-Silva is an Assistant Professor (Education) in the LSE Data Science Institute where he teaches modern best practices for the collection, storage and manipulation of data for analytics and AI. Jon co-leads the GENIAL project, a study that looks into how the use of AI by undergraduate students impact, or interfere, with their learning experience at university.

This event is hosted by

The Data Science Institute (@LSEDataScience) forms the institutional cornerstone of data science activity at LSE. Working alongside the academic departments across the School, the DSI’s mission is to foster the study of data science and new forms of data with a focus on their social, economic, and political aspects.

The Digital Skills Lab support students to gain the digital skills they need now and in their future careers. Our aim is to enable students to become digitally confident social scientists. We offer training and support through independent study materials, daily workshops and one-to-one sessions in the following areas: analysis; writing; presentation; data collection; cloud storage, collaboration, backup, and version control; and digital assistive technology.
