  • Miranda Hart says she’s “been through a very unexpected decade”, one which has featured “really difficult” challenges
  • She will detail the “challenging lows” in her new book I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You
  • Details of exactly what the book contains are still under wraps. It is due to be published on 10th October

Miranda Hart is set to reveal previously hidden truths about her life in a new book.

I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You, which is due to be published in October, will see the sitcom star deliver “deep revelations” and detail “challenging lows”.

Details of exactly what the book contains are still under wraps, but the blurb explains that the comedian has had “an unexpectedly difficult decade”. In the book she will detail the “practical tools, values, ways, answers researched from some great scientists, neuroscientists, therapists, sociologists” that have led her to have “a sense of freedom, joy, peace and physical recovery I never would have thought possible.”

Hart’s hit sitcom, Miranda, concluded on New Year’s Day in 2015. Since then she has sporadically appeared in TV specials, such as Miranda Does Christmas in 2017, The Big Fat Quiz Of Everything in 2018 and Beauty & The Beast: A Pantomime For Comic Relief in 2021, but her only major comic acting role was a Miss Bates in the 2020 film Emma..

Hart has revealed in her previous book that she suffers from anxiety, and has previously said: “There’s a lot of talk about comedians being depressed and I think, in many cases, it’s absolutely true. I definitely have that side to my personality – naturally my glass is half-empty, so I make a conscious effort to keep the positive attitude going.”

In a video posted on social media, Hart talked further about her book, saying “I’ve been through a very unexpected decade of my life and there have been some surprising and incredible joys but also some really difficult, equally surprising, challenges”.

Although she doesn’t reveal the challenges in the video, she explains: “I’m here, I’m intact, I’ve got through it. So I’m sharing the treasures I learnt in darkness and the things that helped me to live and feel like I am free and joyful and peaceful and physically recovered in a way I never thought possible.”

Talking about the contents of the book she adds “Also, it doesn’t sound like it, but there are some laughs along the way…”, and alluded to the fact there is a love story detailed within the pages too.

I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You will be published in hardback, eBook and audiobook formats by Michael Joseph on 10th October. It is available to pre-order now.

Miranda Hart - I Haven't Been Entirely Honest with You
By Miranda Hart

Hello to you, I am with news. I have a new book: I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You. I know – what an intriguing title!

Basically, I have had an unexpectedly difficult decade – there have been surprising joys, but also deep revelations and challenging lows. I shall be honest about those, because what I discovered in the difficult times were my, what I call, treasures. Treasures – practical tools, values, ways, answers researched from some great scientists, neuroscientists, therapists, sociologists (all the ‘ists’) out there, that have genuinely led to a sense of freedom, joy, peace and physical recovery I never would have thought possible. Life now, amazingly, with what I will share, is – SUCH FUN! (always important to quote your own catch phrases. . .)

If you fancy having a read, then I hope my story might help your story. After all, we are in this beautiful, mysterious, challenging life together. Rest assured there are funny stories along the way – we will have a laugh too, my dear reader chum. Oh, and I couldn’t possibly say if there is a love story in it . . . (There is – shush) Exciting.
