New College Worcester featured in Commonwealth 75th anniversary book

New College Worcester (NCW) has been included in the academic project titled ‘The Commonwealth at 75’, one of the most academic projects in recent British history, which marked the Commonwealth’s 75th anniversary on April 26.

The History of Parliament Trust announced the upcoming publication, which is set to launch at Westminster Abbey in October.

NCW will be represented in the book for its work in educating vision-impaired children and young adults.

The college has been granted the chance to send a representative to the main launch event.

Principal Rachel Perks will be attending on behalf of the institution.

The book also celebrates the ascension of King Charles III as Head of the Commonwealth.

Royal authors Robert Jobson and Katie Nicholl, along with seasoned photographer Arthur Edwards, have contributed their works to the publication.

Richard Freed, founder of publisher St James’s House, said: “We’re delighted to be launching this prestigious publication, which pays tribute to the Commonwealth and its member states.

“The 75th anniversary offers the perfect opportunity to reflect on its past, present and future.”

Ms Perks, principal of NCW, said: “We are honoured and delighted to be part of this wonderful project.

“The history of NCW dates back over 150 years so we have been providing the best education and care of young people who are vision impaired for the whole of the history of the Commonwealth.

“It is a privilege to be involved.”
