New Look At David Corenswet As Superman: Saves Over 300 People

Thanks to the Cleveland, Ohio set, we get a new look at David Corenswet as Superman in James Gunn’s new Man of Steel movie.

Fans have been posting set images on social media with the latest offering two cool new looks at Corenswet.

The images are from set props of Daily Planet newspaper which feature articles about Superman saving people.

“Superman saves 20 after downtown building collapse. No fatalities in what could have been a tragic outcome,” states one headline, with set images showing off the damage and rubble. See below.

The other – written by none other than Clark Kent – shows that Superman saved over 300 people from a runaway train – so yes – that means he’s faster than a locomotive. The scene also looks to be straight out of the comics.

“Heroism flashes across the Metropolis sky in blue, red, and gold,” states the article. “At 8:02 AM on Wednesday, the Metropolis Trans Authority (MTA) received a distress call from the northbound A Train with reports of brakes and uncontrolled acceleration, resulting in multiple missed stops along Morrison Avenue.”

The article continues, “With over 300 passengers on board, panicspread as the Metrorail train reached hazardous speeds and barreled through downtown New Troy. Potential disaster loomed only a mile away; pipeline construction near the Metropolis City Hall meant an 80-foot segment of the railway track had been removed leaving a three-story drop between unconnected railway tracks.”

“‘We were helpless,’ said train operator Tom Wadsworth,” the article adds. “‘There wasn’t enough time for the MTA to intervene. Emergency brakes were malfunctioning. I could see the break in the tracks just ahead. I prayed for a miracle.’”

Elsewhere in the article it reads: “‘Because of Superman, I am still alive,’ passenger Evie Shriner commented on the city’s most famous superhero.’”

Adding, “… A native of Metropolis, Evie credits Superman with not only saved her life, the but also declared that ‘he is the best this city has to offer. He saved hundreds of lives this morning.’”

The article also says, “According to MTA officials, no one was injured. The passengers were transferred to shuttle busses to continue their commutes.”

The Daily Planet newspaper also makes mention of Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor as the paper states Lex won the Arcane Genius Award.

The set dressing on the Superman set here in Cleveland is almost complete. I love the little details that NO ONE will see. pic.twitter.com/hNWPfCWRxJ

Here’s a better view of what appears to be a craft of some sort. The blue wrap will most likely be replaced in post; underneath the canopy is a huge bank of bright lights. I believe the antagonist will descend the stairs, covered now by the brown tarp. pic.twitter.com/Mv19UIlOTA

This particular section of Cleveland has doubled for NYC, DC, and now Metropolis. Chitauri aliens invaded NYC just down the street and around the corner on E. 9th; Nick Fury was chased by HYDRA agents in Cap 2 literally five hundred feet from here, and now this. Pretty cool, huh? pic.twitter.com/rRkqqcJzaF

Note the stage to the left. It appears, to me at least, as a staircase from a spaceship or craft of some kind. The stairs (covered by the tarp) appear to be very futuristic. The bright bank of lights set into the top of the stage could be for a spacecraft? Will CGI make it so? pic.twitter.com/64ZPBFndvN

The art department for the new Superman film isn’t quite done yet. Here, Metropolis’ pro baseball team’s fan club will have their HQ right down the street from The Daily Planet. The stickers will finish being applied sometime Friday morning. pic.twitter.com/oqX1q0P8UA

Books located in Swan’s Bookstore. Not too many, but many of them have to do with space and astronomy. Once again, nice little touches by the art department that won’t factor into the story but provide a wink and a nod to the theme of the film. pic.twitter.com/yEgTWJ1Eix

Set dressing for a Metropolis pet store. There’s a piece of plywood covering one of the glass windows; I’ve been told there’ll be a gag there. Could it be a throwaway reference to Krypto? It’d be a cheap laugh… pic.twitter.com/xRpS3ylbqr

It appears there’ll be an alien invasion of Metropolis. Parts of tall buildings are crushing cars near The Daily Planet building. Will Superman come to the rescue? pic.twitter.com/LIeHVLEFgN

Spent a few hours on the Superman set as they’re finishing up set dressing Cleveland to double as Metropolis. Saw a few interesting things: Notice the blue flag next to the Metropolis flag; it’s the State of Delaware flag. Is Metropolis in Delaware?!! pic.twitter.com/ongYImoPq4

James Gunn’s Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025 also starring Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

The film also features Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, María Gabriela De Faría as the Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, with Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher MacDonald as Ron Troupe. Milly Alcock is also thought to be debuting as Supergirl prior to her own movie which gets released in 2026.
