Ronda Rousey has come forth with yet another book as her career in creative writing continues to grow. But this time around, it’s not just any autobiography. It’s a romantic comedy graphic novel packed with action scenes and talks about motherhood. The title of the book? It’s ‘Expecting The Unexpected’. However, this came along with concerns about her financial struggles.

After ‘Rowdy’ announced the release of ‘Expecting The Unexpected’, she took to Instagram and advertised an opportunity for the fight fans to take on private lessons from her and her husband, Travis Browne. Unfortunately, the UFC Hall of Famer did not expect the outcome, as the fight fans began to give rise to a new rumor of her financial struggles. But Rousey has come out clean with a revelation. After all, she is a millionaire with a net worth of $14 million.

Was Ronda Rousey motivated by low bank balance to write her new graphic novel?

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion has been advertising the graphic novel like nothing else. She talked about the book at San Diego ComicCon, on the 26th of July. Needless to say, the world of literature and comic books is pretty excited about the book.

In a promotional video released on YouTube on 28th July 2024, ‘Rowdy’ revealed the real motivation behind writing the graphic novel, clearing all the rumors that claimed her bank balance was going down. It took her about 5 whole years to finish it all up. In the graphic novel, the main protagonist is a pregnant superhuman, who tries to go through the perils of pregnancy with her husband while the world is out there for their lives. Surprisingly, Rousey was trying to get pregnant while writing the book. And adding up to the coincidences, she was pregnant during the launch of the book.

In the video, ‘Rowdy’ said, “I wrote this while I was trying to get pregnant. There are very few stories out there that examine the journey that a woman goes through from when she finds out she’s pregnant, to when she decides whether or not she can be a mom. It’s very much me and my husband in there, which is why our likenesses are being drawn into the book itself. And in trying to write a role for myself that no one else could play better than me, I unexpectedly wrote something that no one could have written other than me.”

Managing a pregnancy is an extremely daunting task. Paired with raising a child and advertising the graphic novel, the struggles just increase. And it is definitely not an easy take on one’s bank balance. Is this why the fans suspected that she was going through financial troubles?

Why did fight fans suspect ‘Rowdy’ is going through money problems?

On the same day as the promotional video was released, Rousey took to social media and wrote, “Get a private mma lesson from me and @travisbrownemma – limited to 10 people!” She promised to teach her infamous armbar, while Browne would teach his elbow shots against the fence. After all, a private session with a Hall of Famer and a former UFC and Strikeforce champion was indeed something that many just dream of. However, some of the fans had different opinions.

They came to the belief that Rousey was offering the lessons just because she was running low on money. “They must be coming short on money”, and “Need that money” are just a couple of many comments that the HoFer received on her Instagram post. But in reality, this was just a way of her promoting the new book. On top of that, it was just a small token that she was willing to give to her and Browne’s fans.

Are you excited to read Rousey’s graphic novel? Let us know what you think of her private lesson offer in the comments down below.
