Former soldier Tim Leeson releases poetry book on mental health

Tim Leeson, from Ulverston, is releasing his first solo project called ‘The Nightmare’ with the poems supported by images of his art.

The founder of South Lakes Arts Collective and the Cumbria Outsiders visual artists group said: “The poems are sometimes truthful and accurate. They are sometimes about other people and other situations.” Some of the poems were also created when he was receiving treatment. Mr Leeson said he is in good health ‘at the moment.’

He said that Major Andrew ‘Taff’ Hamilton from Royal Engineers supported him in publishing the collection.

Shortly after leaving the army, Mr Leeson was diagnosed with a severe mental health disorder and had ‘many admissions to hospital.’

He said every admission he ‘received superb treatment and support from the staff there.’

The book will be launched at Ulverston Art House on Cavendish Street on August 3.
