“My Freedom Lives In The Pages”: Megan Fox’s New Poetry Book Is About Toxic Men

Model, mother, and future poet laureate (fingers crossed), Megan Fox’s poetry collection, ‘Pretty Boys Are Poisonous’ is out November 7th.

“I wrote a book”, Megan Fox proudly announced on social media this week. The book in question is a collection of self-written poems, titled Pretty Boys Are Poisonous. Over the course of over 70 works, the 37-year-old divulges all matters of the heart, namely how we mould ourselves to fit the one we love and often end up losing ourselves in the process.

Standing for all the heartbroken who’ve tirelessly penned angsty poems into their Notes app in the early hours, Fox shares, “I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins.” She continues, perceptively, “I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness.”

According to an official synopsis from publisher Simon & Schuster, the ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘dark’ collection showcases Fox’s ‘wicked humour’ – standing her in good stead with Gen Z and their notoriously twisted humour. The book may come as somewhat of a surprising announcement from the multi-hyphenate. Although, it feels rather fitting for the actor who played a sultry succubus that cannibalised men in the 2009 classic, Jennifer’s Body.

Some fans thought the poetry book may be a dig at fiancé Machine Gun Kelly, with whom Megan has shared a very public, oft-controversial relationship. From the vial of Fox’s blood Kelly wears around his neck, to claims of Megan manifesting their coupling aged four, they’ve made the intimate, often wince-worthy ins and outs of their relationship well known. As well as their many break-ups. The dig doesn’t seem to ring true, however, given that Kelly was among the first to comment on the announcement with “proud of you” and a fire emoji.

‘Pretty Boys Are Poisonous’ is out November 7th.
