'Can Kits ever serious be?': page opening in a Victorian movable book

Hosted by the Centre for Literary Editing and the Materiality of the Text

Dr Hannah Field will present research on the material traces left by child readers in nineteenth-century picture books, asking how literary scholars should read archival evidence of ripping, tearing, and other destructive and transformative behaviours. This event is hosted by the Centre for Literary Editing and the Materiality of the Text. It will be of interest to all working on bibliography and book history, children’s literature in the nineteenth century and beyond, and the history of reading.

Zoom, registration required.
