TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – For those who are on vacation in Bali this weekend, don’t miss the international book bazaar “Big Bad Wolf Books” (BBW), the largest discounted book fair in Asia. This book fair covers eight countries — Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

For this year’s BBW, the book fair is held in Bali for the first time, precisely at Discovery Mall from July 25 to August 4, 2024, from 10:00 to 22:00 WITA (Central Indonesian Time) and it is free of charge.

BBW Bali, which carries the theme #BacaItuKeren, offers book lovers of all ages thousands of international books as far as the eye can see.

Andri Suharyono, Public Relations of Big Bad Wolf Books Indonesia said that BBW is committed to improving reading habits among Indonesians, and reading is expected to shape the character of a nation that is more insightful, intelligent and wise.

“Through various literacy activities and attractive book offers, BBW Bali hopes to make reading a fun activity and provide easy access to international books for everyone,” he said in a written statement to Tempo, Friday, July 26, 2024.

BBW Bali offers book discounts of up to 90 percent on thousands of titles of children’s books, fiction, and non-fiction in English, Korean, and Indonesian. There is also a special table for buyers to collect book series or stories in full with their favorite actors and characters in it.

Visitors can also hunt for international books. Starting from the “Buy 3 Get 4” promo offer for English fiction books to the curation of children’s books tailored to age categories that make it easier for parents to find books that are suitable for children’s growth and development. Not to forget, Korean books are still available which will continue to be present until the end of 2024.

Albert Ghana, Marketing Communication of the Big Bad Wolf Books Indonesia, is enthusiastic about the first BBW event in Bali. This is in response to the overwhelming requests of book lovers in Bali.

“BBW hopes to continue to reach more readers across Indonesia, spread the spirit of literacy, and provide a fun book shopping experience,” he said.

He added that through BBW Bali 2024, BBW Indonesia will continue its commitment in supporting education in Indonesia through a book donation program titled “1 Book for 1000 Dreams of Indonesian Children” program. In collaboration with Bantu Buru Belajar Lagi and Teman Tulus, the donated books will be distributed to 9 partner schools in Rote Ndao, Belu, and Purworejo regencies.
