Victor M Bello, M.D. Children’s Book: “Hairy Harry Couldn’t Hurry: An Imaginarium Of Imaginactions That Take Place In The Hot Days Of Summer”

Victor M Bello, M.D., a practicing ophthalmologist in the Cleveland area for over 30 years, ventures into the realm of children’s literature with his delightful book, “Hairy Harry Couldn’t Hurry: An Imaginarium Of Imaginactions That Take Place In The Hot Days Of Summer.” Bello, who writes under the pen name “Bello,” draws inspiration from the whimsical adventures of his own children to craft a story that captures the joy and imagination of childhood.

He has spent decades helping patients as an ophthalmologist, but his passion for storytelling was ignited by observing his children’s playful interactions. The idea for “Hairy Harry Couldn’t Hurry” was born from a day spent watching his children marvel at a spider’s web. Collaborating with his children, then aged five and three, Bello brought this charming tale to life. His goal is to inspire families to read together, nurturing a love for stories across generations. Bello hints at more adventures to come, with three more stories already written and awaiting publication.

“Hairy Harry Couldn’t Hurry” follows the adventures of Victor and his little brother Vincent, affectionately known as Chichi and Chacho. One hot summer day, while playing in their backyard treehouse, they discover a spider they name Hairy Harry. Fascinated by his web and his slow movements, the brothers set on a mission to help Hairy Harry become faster and stronger. Through creative solutions and teamwork, they feed Hairy Harry and watch him transform into a swift and skilled web-weaver.

This enchanting story not only entertains but also imparts valuable lessons about compassion, creativity, and the importance of a balanced diet. An excerpt from the book highlights this:

“Chichi and I decided to ask Mama for ‘protein’ for Hairy Harry. She said with a few fine lumps of hamburger meat and some grains of cooked rice, we could nurture Hairy Harry to health. So we got what we needed and went to Hairy Harry’s web. My crazy little brother came up with a very good idea… he put a couple of grains of rice in a straw and swoooosh, like a spitball onto the web they went. He did the same with small lumps of hamburger meat, and presto… we had meat-n-rice-spit-balls.”

This passage exemplifies the inventive spirit and cooperative efforts of the characters, making it a heartwarming read for children and parents alike.

Discover the enchanting world of “Hairy Harry Couldn’t Hurry” with Victor M Bello, M.D., and his family. This captivating book is a must-have for summer reading, no matter if you’re a parent, grandparent, or child. Don’t miss out on the chance to dive into an exciting journey with lovable characters and valuable lessons. Get your hands on a copy now!

A physician, Ophthalmologist in active practice when he wrote the book, strongly believes that there is too much violence everywhere. Let us bring the bucolic, the innocence of growing up playing games like football, soccer, baseball. Those are wonderful interactions, but reading and writing about the children’s “adventures” such as vacations or backyard play are very rewarding family activities. Let us explore the mind, let us incite parents to interact with their children, exploring their imagination and creativity.

Dr. Bello, lives in Mobile Alabama, where he is still practicing his beloved specialty of ophthalmology. As he puts it, “serving those who served, doing Veterans Eye Examinations or assessments for visual disablities.
