Alia Bhatt, the Brahmastra and Heart of Stone star launched the book at StoryVerse, a literature festival for children held at Mumbai’s Jio World Drive. Her mother Soni Razdan and sister Shaheen Bhatt were in attendance at the event.
The Alia Bhatt Book: Ed Finds a Home is a heartwarming tale for children
With illustrations by Tanvi Bhat, the book contains a series of pictures in storytelling form. It is the collaborative work of Alia Bhatt, Vivek Kamath and Shabnam Minwalla. The book narrates the journey of Ed the dog and Alia the little girl and how they find each other. Appropriate for children, the book portrays the adventures of Ed-a-Mamma, a name derived from Alia Bhatt’s kids and maternity wear clothing brand by the same name. Launched in 2020, the label collaborated with Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) for a majority stake.
This debut effort by Bhatt is available in paperback and ebook formats. It is published by Penguin Random House India and is printed on sustainable paper. In her speech at the launch event, Bhatt said, “Storytelling has always been a part of me, a gift inherited from my grandfather and I’m so happy that I could introduce the world to this book on his birthday. The little girl and her dog are the heart and soul of Ed-a-Mamma and their adventures to save the planet aim to encourage children to spend more time outdoors, connect with nature and develop a love for nature and a love for reading. Our planet is facing numerous environmental challenges and it’s important to raise awareness among the next generation. We will always take care of what we love, and I hope these simple stories will spark joy and positive action among all age groups.”
