Gr 12 Limpopo learner publishes short stories

LIMPOPO – Mbulaheni Musenwa (19) from Madombidzha made his parents and teachers proud by having his first book of short stories, entitled New Mind, New Life, published on March 21.

Mbulaheni, a Gr 12 learner at Maluta High School, says he loves writing.

“I used to write short stories and my parents were impressed with my ability, so I collected all my stories and came up with a whole book about all my adventures and experiences. It is a fun book and I thought I could share it with others.”

Mbulaheni says he is determined to share his experiences and assist those who may be going through similar challenges.

New Life is a collection of short stories that touch on various situations, drawing from his own experiences as well as those of others.

He emphasises that struggling does not mean the end of the world, and he encourages readers to face their obstacles head-on. Mbulaheni believes challenges are opportunities for growth and learning, and he is living testimony to the fact that one can overcome even the darkest moments in life.

Reflecting on his journey, Mbulaheni recognises that if he had succumbed to his despair, the world would have lost a talented writer and actor. He urges everyone who is going through difficult times not to give up but to hold on, knowing that tomorrow can bring brighter days.

His story serves as an inspiration and a reminder that strength can emerge from adversity, and that hope for a better future exists.

The young man is very excited about the book, and his parents are super proud of him. His mother, Rendani Siganuni, said Mbulaheni took two years to write and complete the 112 chapters.

“When his father told him he would pay for the book to get published, Mbulaheni was beside himself with joy. He asked me to help with the spelling and to check some of the words, but I was forbidden to say anything about him writing a book. I got to know when the first chapter was done, as he asked me to read it, but I told him I wanted to read the whole book when it was done. I did not want to spoil his excitement. We are extremely proud of his achievement,” she said.
