Author event: Ruth Reichl and A Paris Novel—May 14

Join your friends at this special author event on Tuesday, May 14, at 11:30 a.m., at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club. Ruth Reichl will discuss her new book, A Paris Novel. The presentation is followed by a casual buffet lunch. Tickets are $150 and the luncheon and includes a signed copy of the book. Member pricing available. Great Decisions: Mideast Realignment—April 8

On Monday, April 8, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the library hosts a lively discussion about the Great Decisions 2024 Briefing Book. This book is put out by the Foreign Policy Association and offers expert insight into policy options for U.S. officials. You can read a copy of the book at the library and then participate in the conversation. The topic for the April meeting will be “Climate Technology.”

Water Conservation in Landscaping—April 10

Come to the library on Wednesday, April 10, at 11 a.m. to listen to a free and educational class about sustainable practices in landscaping.

Rancho Santa Fe Writers Group—April 10

This group is a great opportunity for writers of all levels to commiserate and share feedback. It meets the second Wednesday of every month, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The next meeting is Wednesday, April 10.

Rancho Santa Fe Book Club—April 12

Join your neighbors at the library for the monthly book club. It will be a thoughtful discussion about the book The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes. The club meets on Friday, April 12, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Coffee & Conversation: Polar Opposites? Iceland, Greenland, and Antarctica—April 18

Linda Hawley from San Diego Oasis leads this fascinating discussion on Thursday, April 18 at 11 a.m. Learn about everything from geysers to glaciers, penguins to puffins, ice flows to icebergs, and hot springs for home heating. Discover in what ways Arctic Iceland and Greenland differ from and are similar to each other and to Antarctica.

Succulent Arrangement—April 20

This program is for adults and there is limited space. Please contact the library to reserve your spot, 858-756-2512. The event is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Special Enrichment Activities for Kids—April 11, 23, 24 and 25

The library hosts ZBK Sensory Play on Thursday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. Please arrive early to reserve a spot. Also, on April 11 and April 25, Bentley the Dog will be there for petting and reading. Come over at 2:15 p.m. to interact and read with your fluffy friend. On Tuesday and Wednesday, April 23 and 24, at 10:30 a.m. there will be a special Puppet Show at Storytime.

“Flowers Are Back” Art Display

The Art Guild of Rancho Santa Fe presents an exhibition at the library until April 26, called “Flowers Are Back.”

Book Cellar Seeks Donations

Please drop off your gently used books to the Rancho Santa Fe Book Cellar, which is right below the library. The Book Cellar will resell your donations and proceeds benefit the Library Guild of Rancho Santa Fe. This is an excellent way to support your Rancho Santa Fe Library. Place donations in the black cabinet on the patio outside the cellar. No dictionaries or encyclopedias please, and books must be in decent, readable condition.

American Flag Drop Off

If it’s time to retire your American Flag, please drop it off at the library. There is a drop box and your flag will be treated with respect.

Battery Drop Off at Library

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a safe place to dispose of small batteries, including A, AA, AAA, C, lithium (with taped covered ends), cell phone and other small batteries. Do your part to stop pollution by bringing this toxic trash to the library. The drop-off program is in partnership with Universal Waste.

Seeds and Sustainability

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a seed library too! Come by to pick up two free seed varieties that you can take home and plant.

Chair Yoga—Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 to 11 a.m.

Sign up required as space is limited to 20 people.

Fun for Children and Tweens

—Mondays: Book Buddies, 2:30 p.m., Game Day, 3 p.m.

—Tuesdays: Preschool Storytime at 10:30 a.m., STEAM, 2:30 p.m.

—Wednesdays: Toddler Storytime at 10:30 a.m., Tween Time, 3 p.m.

—Thursdays: Baby Storytime at 12 p.m, (starting on April 18), Crafts at 2:15 p.m.

—Fridays: Movies at 2:15 p.m.

—Saturdays: Family Yoga at 10:30 a.m., Chess Club, 11 a.m., Minecraft Meetup, 2 p.m. (No Minecraft Meetup on April 6.)

Library Hours: Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Book Cellar Hours: Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
