Mary Poppins is launching a children’s book podcast. ‹ Literary Hub

There are no shortage of celebrities who’ve been using social media to read to children and fundraise for some of the kids most affected by the impact of COVID-19.

Another luminous star (and her daughter) are next in line: Mary Poppins herself, Dame Julie Andrews, plans to launch a family-friendly “storytime podcast” with her daughter, children’s author Emma Walton Hamilton.

Julie Andrews:
I’m so pleased to announce I’ll be hosting @JuliesLibrary, a new family-friendly storytime #podcast with @ewhamilton.
We’re going to share our favorite new children’s books and so much more! Episodes start this spring. Find out more at https://t.co/V4zthEZaWk

The mother-daughter duo are no strangers to the book world. The two of them have co-authored dozens of books together, many a part of The Very Fairy Princess children’s series.

On the forthcoming podcast, Julie’s Library, Andrews and Hamilton will gab about the children’s books they love, which is just a dream. Childhood personified talking about wonderful books meant for children.

“As a child I read anything and everything I could get my hands on,” Andrews said in a statement on the podcast website. “There was no greater joy for me than to curl up with a good read. Books transported me—away from the World War II Blitz and into the realm of my imagination and other worlds and ideas.”

Andrews goes on: “At this extraordinary time, with families confined to their homes and in need of creative content and learning support, we have accelerated the show’s launch in order to bring it to audiences as soon as possible.”

The show will occasionally feature guest appearances, including by Andrews’ granddaughter, Hope.
