Bridgerton Season 4 Update Finally Confirms Next Romantic Lead, New Plot Details Tease Book Events

Bridgerton season 4’s lead has finally been confirmed by Netflix, confirming which of the siblings is going to be the future focus of the period drama. Bridgerton season 3 ended with Penelope and Collin married, the pair’s resolved relationship leaving the door open for the next sibling to take the reins going into season 4. Throughout the latest episodes, the other members of the family were going through their own story arcs, leaving it open to interpretation just which one of them would be the main character of the next season.

Now, Netflix has confirmed that Bridgerton season 4 will be focused on Benedict, in a new video teasing the episodes that are now in development. Check out the announcement below:

The video includes clips of Benedict, ending with actor Luke Thompson, who portrays the new lead, preparing for a scene happening at a masquerade ball. Netflix also revealed the first details of the plot, with Benedict meeting a Lady in Silver at the ball hosted by his mother, a reference to Sophie Beckett from the book series. With these new story details revealed, it appears Bridgerton season 4 will be following the story of Julia Quinn’s novel focused on Benedict, titled An Offer from a Gentleman. In the book, the Bridgerton bachelor becomes infatuated with Sophie, hoping to find her after the ball in a Cinderella-inspired premise. In the TV show, this will no doubt lead to many dramatic and passionate moments, all of which can be utilized to further explore its main characters and their love story.

The new lead has already had plenty of development throughout the existing seasons, with Benedict exploring his bisexuality, a major difference from the books. His sexuality in the show could also have a role to play in his story, with a potential male suitor being thrown into the mix on his quest to find the Lady in Silver. With this comes an exploration of his artistry as well, with his growing skills being another possible addition to the story and how everything between him and Sophie plays out.

With Netflix now confirming Benedict’s story, coupled with book details that maintain faithfulness to Quinn’s work, it seems Bridgerton season 4 will be the perfect follow-up to Colin and Penelope’s romance. It also marks a new era for the show, with both Sophie’s introduction making for the perfect follow-up to the previous season.
