GREENLAND — On Tuesday, June 25 at 6 p.m. at Weeks Library, 36 Post Road, Greenland, Seacoast Eat Local, a local nonprofit organization that bridges the farmers and food producers with the eaters and creator of the popular free guide Seacoast Harvest, will talk about the food system in our community and how to make it work for you. Center for Wildlife visits Dover library

Guided Forest Bathing Walk

DOVER — Thursday, June 28 at 10 a.m. join the Dover Public Library for this fun music program for kids of all ages and their caregivers. We’ll sing, dance and celebrate, using instruments, clapping, stomping, and movement to share in a jubilee of musical expression.
Civil War encampment and Frederick Douglass reading
ROLLINSFORD — On Saturday, June 29, the public is invited to step back in time to the era of the Civil War at Rollinsford’s historic Colonel Paul Wentworth House. Historical re-enactors portraying soldiers of Company A of the 5th New Hampshire Regiment will be encamped at the Wentworth House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with demonstrations and displays of the tents, uniforms, muskets, and other equipment used by Union soldiers during the Civil War. At noon the Wentworth House will also host a community reading of “What to the slave is your Fourth of July,” famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass’ blistering indictment of an American idealism which ignored and accepted the inhuman treatment of enslaved African Americans. DOVER — Saturday, June 29 at 11:30 a.m. in 2017, the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire established a successful tradition of hosting an annual public reading of Frederick Douglass’s famous speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July” in communities around the state. The goal of this reading is to create dialogue on the meaning of the July 4 holiday, what it meant to the enslaved people then, and what it means to us today.
