Guy Deacon – ‘Running on Empty’ Book Tour

Spend an evening with adventurer and Parkinson’s campaigner Guy Deacon to celebrate the launch of his book Running on Empty and donate in support of his three chosen charities; Cure Parkinson’s, Parkinson’s Africa and The Deacon Foundation.

From World Parkinson’s Day on Thursday 11 April, Cure Parkinson’s ambassador Guy Deacon CBE will be embarking on his latest adventure – a UK-wide tour promoting his book Running on Empty and an upcoming Channel 4 documentary of the same name.

Guy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2010, and in 2019 started planning and preparing for an ambitious solo overland trip from his home in Sherborne, Dorset to Cape Town, South Africa, plotting out a route that took him via the beautiful but at times extremely challenging west coast of Africa.

The talks will cover his remarkable expedition, highlighting the experiences of people – like Guy – who are living with Parkinson’s in the UK, throughout Africa, and beyond.

A huge thank you to everyone who has attended a Running on Empty book tour event in support of Guy and his three chosen charities so far; we really appreciate your support.

If you would like to purchase the book, it is available to order now from Amazon. Get your copy via the link below.

More information:

Most events are open to the public although space will be limited.

Tickets are required for all events.  Where there is a charge, it is to cover costs and to generate a small donation to the three primary charities that he is supporting, which are Cure Parkinson’s, Parkinson’s Africa and The Deacon Foundation.

Bespoke talks to local Parkinson’s groups, village communities, dining societies or schools etc can be delivered on request and will be tailored to suit the audience. These will incur a fee to cover expenses and a donation to charity. If you are interested in organising a talk for your group, please contact Guy’s team using the link below.

Donate to Guy’s Chosen Charities

Your donation today will be split between Cure Parkinson’s, Parkinson’s Africa, and The Deacon Foundation – three charities who are working to provide support and information for people affected by Parkinson’s across the globe, and accelerating the search towards a cure. Thank you so much for your support.
