The job market is in constant flux; industries change or become obsolete and new technologies emerge and disrupt. Never before has this been more salient, with the recent progress of AI. In this public event the panel will explain just how AI is now and will continue to disrupt the labour market.

They will also discuss strategies you can put in place to make sure you hone the skills necessary to keep you relevant in the workplace in the future.

Meet our speakers and chair

Grace Lordan (@profgracelordan) is the author of Think Big, the Director of The Inclusion Initiative and Associate Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her academic writings have been published in top international journals and she has written for the Financial Times, Fortune, Fast Company and Harvard Business Review.

Lucy Bailey is Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Bounce Forward. She is proud of her beginnings as a youth worker and her 17 years of experience of developing, reforming and managing children’s services, prior to founding Bounce Forward. Lucy left school with a Math’s CSE and English O’level. In an era when women’s role in the workplace was limiting, On leaving school she was offered the choice on a Youth Training Scheme as a typist or hairdresser, she took the latter. Earning £25 a week and with rent of £16 she dreamed of success and strived to find it. Her lived experience is what drives her enthusiasm for enabling people to overcome setbacks and pursue their opportunities. Since 2009 Lucy has focused on education and parents. Her passion is to drive a movement to influence UK policy to form a positive system of change with psychological fitness at the core. Lucy has directed national research projects, is certified by University of Pennsylvania, has an MSc in Practice Based Research, a BSc in Social Policy and Criminology, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.

Michael Muthukrishna (@mmuthukrishna) is Associate Professor of Economic Psychology at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also affiliate of the Developmental Economics Group at STICERD, CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar in the Boundaries, Membership and Belonging programme at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, and technical director of The Database of Religious History. He is also a board member of the One Pencil Project and author of A Theory of Everyone: Who We Are, How We Got Here, and Where We’re Going, 

Leslie P. Willcocks is Professor (emeritus) in Technology Work and Globalization at the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His previous work was in accounting, management consultancy and project management. He was previously professor at Oxford and Warwick universities. Leslie has a global reputation for his work in robotic process automation, AI, cognitive automation  and the future of work, digital innovation, outsourcing, global management strategy, organisational change, IT management, and managing digital business. Recent and forthcoming  publications include: Becoming Strategic With Robotic Process Automation; Global Business Strategy in Context; Maximizing Value With Automation and Digital Transformation: A Realist’s Guide; Globalization, Automation and Work.

Christine Chow is an Emeritus Governor of the London School of Economics and Political Science, following the completion of her six-year term as a Member of Court and Investment Committee (2015-2021).  She is Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management, and will become Head of Active Ownership at UBS Asset Management, a role that brings together our Impact Engagement, Stewardship and Thematic Engagement activities. She has 27 years of expertise in investment, research, and consulting, with a specific focus on technology and sustainability. Her pioneering work in responsible investment earned her a UN award nomination. She holds a prominent position on the board of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) as Vice Chair and serves as an honorary adviser to the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC) in Hong Kong. In 2022, she was recognized as the Sustainable and ESG Investment Woman of the Year by InvestmentWeek. Christine is an alumna of the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Melbourne, with executive education from Stanford University. Her rich career includes notable stints at global asset management firms like Schroders and Federated Hermes.
