FRIDAY, JULY 12

• Summer Book Sale, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St. Books, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks priced at $2 or less. Enter at Kentucky Street side of library. The library has been taking in an unprecedented number of donations of books, DVDs and CDs for this sale, so there is a wealth of new material to look forward to.

• Douglas County Rural Preservation Association: Town Hall style meeting, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Building 21, Douglas County Fairgrounds. All candidates for county commissioner have been invited regardless of party affiliation.

• Penguin Project: Disney’s “Frozen, Jr.,” 7 p.m., Theatre Lawrence, 4660 Bauer Farm Drive. Tickets at theatrelawrence.com.

• Downtown Lawrence Farmers’ Market, 7:30-11:30 a.m., 824 New Hampshire St.
