Saraband has scooped There She Goes, an anthology of travel writing by 17 women writers, edited by writer, scholar and educator Esa Aldegheri.
Saraband’s founder and m.d. Sara Hunt and publishing manager Rosie Hilton bought world English language rights from Jenny Brown at Jenny Brown Associates, and the book will be published in March 2025 to mark International Women’s Day.
Contributors include Alice Tarbuck, Roxani Krystalli and Alison Phipps, as well as Claire Askew, Janette Ayachi and Jemma Neville, among many others. “Covering a wide variety of experiences often ignored in travel writing, There She Goes highlights the joys and dangers of moving through the world as a woman, in a creative, surprising and engaging collection,” the synopsis says. “Pushing boundaries in their own fields of writing, the contributors consider aspects of journeying that are overlooked in the more typical ‘conquering and adventuring’ travel tales.”
Hunt said: “This is an ambitious and visionary anthology featuring a wonderful range of contributors, including emerging talent alongside established and acclaimed writers. Under the creative eye of Esa Aldegheri, the collection will reflect a kaleidoscope of facets of travel. We’re delighted that we will be adding this inspirational and exciting book to our list in 2025.”
Aldegheri added: “I want to celebrate the tales so often shared verbally between women but rarely seen as ‘travel writing’: those stories about moving through the world in our brave and messy bodies, between grief and joy, with periods or children or illness, during the menopause, with magic and humour. There She Goes offers new perspectives on what is adventurous and opens up new conversations on whose travel stories get told.”
