DUT LIBRARY BOOK CLUB’S YOUTH TALENT SHOW SHINES BRIGHT IN HONOUR OF YOUTH MONTH

The DUT Library Book Club hosted a spectacular talent show in honour of Youth Month at the Mansfield Hall on Friday, 14 June 2024. The event drew a large crowd of enthusiastic students who enjoyed a diverse and engaging lineup of performances, including poetry recitals, voice-overs, soulful R and B, hip-hop, soprano, gqom and the amapiano dance challenge.

Despite a last-minute venue change, the talent show was a huge success, thanks to the dedication and hard work of the club coordinators. Book club coordinators worked tirelessly to efficiently direct all attendees to the new location.

The charismatic master of ceremonies kept the audience entertained and captivated throughout the event with their lively banter and engaging commentary and singing. The lineup featured soprano artists Khaya Mamba and Thanduxolo Mqadi, a voice-over performance by Puleng Phakathi, comedy acts by Moemiesh and Prince the Comedian, and an electrifying performance by the well-known local gqom and amapiano group, Triple Batallions.

The DUT Library Book club’s talent show not only highlighted the diverse talents within the student body but also fostered a sense of community and celebration in honour of Youth Month. The event received additional support from Red Bull SA, which provided beverages for both attendees and performers, adding to the lively atmosphere. At the end of the event, performers received certificates of appreciation, recognising their valuable contributions to the event’s success.
