May is National Short Story Month, and WDHN believes it is vital to celebrate the artists of the Wiregrass! This is why we are holding a Short Story Contest!
Throughout May and June, WDHN will accept short fiction works for a chance to win prizes of up to $500, including gift cards and merchandise from locally owned Wiregrass businesses.
Submissions must be an ORIGINAL work between 500 and 8,000 words (1-16 pages) and include the story’s title, genre, and the author’s name and age at the top. Stories will be categorized based on the author’s age.
Once the submission window ends on Monday, July 5, your stories will be graded by a professional panel of judges based on a set rubric that includes creativity, originality, writing, grammar, composition, etc. The panel will be headed by Dothan native and Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Charles McNair.
WDHN will announce the winners on our website and social media!
You can submit your short story below or send it via email to submissions@wdhn.com.
