It’s less than one day until Katie Price‘s latest memoir hits the shops – the sixth to be released covering intimate details of her extremely eventful life.
Promising to reveal “the true story behind the headlines”, the 46 year old former glamour model – who’s currently dating Married At First Sight star JJ Slater – has delved into her past relationships, family life, struggles with addiction and traumatic experiences. She has warned people could get PTSD from reading it.
This Is Me: The High Life. The Dark Days. The FULL Story by Katie Price (published by John Blake) is out in shops from Thursday, 18 July, promises to provide a fresh perspective on her life in the limelight – buy it here on Amazon for £15.79 or over at Waterstones here for £17.99. The book marks 20 years since her hit autobiography titled Being Jordan hit the shelves.
In a message to her fans before the release of This Is Me, mum of five Katie said: “I’m so, so, so overwhelmed by all the support for my book This Is Me! Thank you honestly to each and every one of you. Out this Thursday and still available to preorder and don’t forget I’ll be celebrating on Wednesday with an event at Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Can’t wait to see you there!”
She also posted a video message, saying: “I would just like to a massive thank you for all the support, all the messages I have had about my new autobiography. All the support I have had. Hopefully it will show all them haters how wrong they have been about me. I want to get my book to number one so there’s still time to pre-order it. It would make me so happy and actually really emotional for once. You might see some emotion from me. Well, you will when you read the book.”
Katie has already spilled to The Sun about the potential impact of her latest tell-all, cautioning: “There’s actually a warning at the beginning of the book that you could get PTSD from reading it, because it’s quite a serious book.”
OK! takes a look at the six biggest bombshells to emerge from This Is Me…
1 She was sexually assaulted in front of her young children
Katie recalls being sexually assaulted in front of her young children, Junior and Princess, and revealed the lasting impact the trauma has had on her mental health.
She describes the moment she prepared to be shot in the face in South Africa and her pain at knowing two of her five children witnessed her being sexually assaulted during a terrifying car hijacking during the trip in 2018.
Recalling how six men approached her car, she details: “Their hands were all over me, and in me and down in my trousers. I just kept saying, ‘Get off me, get off me! I’ve got nothing!’ But they took everything, all the jewellery I had and my watch.”
Katie writes how the traumatic experience with kids Junior and Princess Andre, who she shares with ex-husband Peter Andre, has left them “all affected” to this day – with the reality TV star sharing how to assault led to her attempting suicide and being diagnosed with PTSD.
2 She was pregnant at 16 but lost the baby
Katie bravely shares that she was pregnant at the young age of 16 but lost the baby.
She explains how she shared owing a horse with a 25 year old man, who had come out of prison and goes on to say that she lost her virginity to him. In shocking detail, she describes his controlling and coercive behaviour, which included cutting up her clothes and pushing her about. She says her mum would sometimes have to pick her up “when I ran out of his house and called her from a phone box with no clothes on.”
Katie goes on to explain the terrible assault that followed: “He kicked me in the belly when I was 16 years old and was pregnant and I lost the baby. He always tried to control over me and whenever I went in the car with him, he told me to always face straight ahead. I couldn’t look around or to the side because he thought I would be looking at other men…”
3 She was sexually abused at seven years old
Katie recounts the terrifying incident where she fell prey to a vile man while on what should have been an innocent day out at the park with her mum as a little girl.
She vividly recalls how, even “after all these years,” she can “still remember his ginger freckles” and can “see them as clear as day, the intensity of them, sprawling over his face.”
And Katie explains that this particular feature “gave me something to fixate on, I suppose,” and if she shuts her eyes, she can remember what he looks like, with a bald head and wisps of ginger hair. She also shockingly reveals that he disgustingly promised her “a pound and an ice cream”.
She writes: “He was a complete stranger who was in my life for no more than a few minutes 39 years ago, and yet I can vividly see him like it was yesterday. And that’s because this man, this monster, sexually assaulted me when I was seven years old.” The police never caught the man who assaulted her.
4 She became addicted to cocaine after depression
Katie opens up about how depressed she was in 2020, saying she “couldn’t get out of bed or function as a mother.” In 2021, she detailed the ‘goodbye letter’ she wrote to cocaine after completing a rehab stint in The Priory back in 2018.
Katie wrote the letter in a bid to end her drug use, which she was using to “numb the pain” of her problems, after undergoing “severe traumatic rehabilitation” at The Priory, which she has put in the book.
Talking about her experience with the drug, she writes: “I was never one to do drugs, it was never my thing. But then I became depressed. And I became so badly depressed that I couldn’t get out of bed and I started self-medicating on cocaine because it blocked everything out.”
She goes on to explain how she welcomed cocaine into her life because she mistakenly thought it helped her – but comes to the realisation it only helped the part of her that wanted to hide away and not have to face the world. Katie reveals she is still in contact with her doctor from The Priory on a weekly basis.
5 She suffered a miscarriage with Carl Woods
Katie loves kids. She already has five – Harvey, 22, with ex-footballer Dwight Yorke, plus Junior, 19, and Princess, 17, whom she shares with first husband Peter Andre. She also has Jett, 10, and Bunny, nine, from her marriage to Kieran Hayler. But having five kids is not stopping her from going for a sixth. In her book she makes a bombshell confession that she wants more.
Before that, she opens up on the failed pregnancies she has had throughout her life, including a miscarriage she had through IVF with ex-boyfriend Carl Woods. “With Kieran I fell pregnant naturally but after having Bunny and getting with Carl I haven’t been able to conceive naturally,” she writes. “Carl and I went through rounds of IVF and I did fall pregnant, but I miscarried quite early on.”
She goes on to explain how women who are struggling to conceive should talk about it more, and talks about the strain on women’s bodies in carrying babies. She adds: “Which is why, if need be, I won’t be the one carrying my next baby if my body isn’t up to it.”
She writes that she has a clinic on standby and has even chosen sperm from a donor in America – rather than the more obvious choice of boyfriend JJ Slater, the Married At First Sight star she has been dating since February. “I am going to have another baby. There is a clinic that currently has some donor eggs and sperm ready and is waiting for me to come in and have them implanted. I went through a list of suitable donors and I have chosen sperm from a man who is mixed race from America.”
6 Carl became her carer
Katie met Carl during lockdown. It was a whirlwind romance for the pair, who started dating July 2020. Not long after their eyes met at Essex hot spot Sheesh, they had moved in together – not spending a day apart since. They then revealed to OK! that they were engaged.
In her book, she cites that Carl became her carer, after she broke both her feet just one month into their relationship back in 2020. She then details how their relationship fell apart after Covid lockdowns eased, saying he couldn’t cope with the person she was: “He saw a totally different me and it went downhill from there.”
Former Love Island star Carl, 33, announced his split from Katie, 44, on an Instagram video in which he accused the former Page 3 model of being unfaithful. She continues in her book: ” I changed the way I looked and I changed the way I dressed for him.”
