The way you visit Disney World has completely changed as of today. But don’t worry — we’re here to help.

In case you missed it, Genie+ is no more — as of TODAY the paid skip-the-line service will is called Lightning Lane Multi Pass while Individual Lightning Lane will is now called Lightning Lane Single Pass! It’s not just the name that’s changing though — the new system looks very similar to FastPass+ because you’ll be able to book Lightning Lane reservations BEFORE your trip even begins. We’ve been preparing to test out the new system, and we got a surprise when it went live on the Disney World app!
Booking in advance sounds pretty great, right? If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you’ll get to make your 3 Lightning Lane choices up to seven days in advance while everyone else can make selections three days in advance. Once you use up one of your selections in the park, you’ll be able to make another.

That’s not all though — you can’t just choose all of the most popular rides. Disney World has placed their rides into a tiered system (yes, this is also very familiar). You’ll only be able to book one Lightning Lane Multi Pass at a time for rides in the top tier and two rides in the bottom tier OR all three rides in the bottom tier. When Disney initially released the rides in these tiers, we quickly noticed that some attractions you used to be able to book through Disney Genie+ weren’t included.

You know how you used to be able to book a Lightning Lane for the popular shows in the parks, like Festival of the Lion King? The shows weren’t included in those early lists.

And speaking of shows, you previously could also book a Lightning Lane to reserve a spot in a special section right in front of Cinderella Castle to watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade. But it wasn’t on the first list, either.

Lastly, meet and greets like the new one in EPCOT located at CommuniCore Hall, Mickey and Friends were not on the list.

But guess what? When the app updated at midnight on July 24th, we got a look at the experiences included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and all those attractions we thought we would be missing ARE THERE! That’s right — in addition to Disney World rides, you can use Lightning Lane Multi Pass to book the following:
