This storyline was a personal and professional goal for Rousey, one she was determined to see through before her exit at SummerSlam. However, WWE’s reluctance to follow her proposed storyline added to her growing discontent.
“Listen, I told you I’d be here until SummerSlam,” Rousey recounted telling Triple H. “And I’m a woman of my word, but I’m done after this. All I wanted when I got into this business was to tag with Shayna, have her turn on me, then put her over before I leave.
We have until SummerSlam to make that happen. After that, I’m done being associated with this minimum-effort lazy-ass s***show.” The exchange, charged with emotion, revealed Rousey’s deep-seated frustrations. Triple H’s sympathetic response, shifting from authoritative to a more personal tone, underscored the strain Rousey felt.
“But how are you?” Triple H asked sincerely.
