Alia Bhatt On Daughter Raha’s Love For Books: She Hugs Her Books To Sleep

Updated Jun 20, 2024, 12:27 IST

In a recent interview, Alia Bhatt, unveiled her venture into the literary world as she proudly announced the release of her inaugural children’s book. During the interview, Alia shared heartwarming details about her daughter, Raha, expressing delight in her profound love for reading. Read on to know more.

Alia Bhatt On Daughter Raha’s Love For Books: She Hugs Her Books To Sleep

Actress Alia Bhatt has shared that she devotes time each day to read three to four books to her toddler daughter, Raha. This practice is in stark contrast to her own childhood experience, where her parents and sister would try to encourage her to read by “shoving” books in her direction, albeit without much success.

Reflecting on her own upbringing, Bhatt admits that she wasn’t an avid reader during her childhood. Instead, she would often spend her time gazing out of the window and daydreaming. However, with her debut as a writer, Bhatt has ventured into the world of children’s literature with her picture book titled The Adventures of Ed-a-Mamma: Ed Finds A Home. Naturally, the book is dedicated to her 19-month-old daughter, Raha.

Alia Bhatt Shared Raha’s Unique Passion For Books

During a recent interview with PTI, Alia Bhatt SAID,”I have been reading Raha a book every day, every afternoon, every night. We read not one, not two, but three books, and many times four books. She loves her books… She hugs her books to sleep, that’s how much she loves her books.” This love for reading displayed by Raha stands in contrast to Alia’s own childhood habits.

Recalling her early years, Alia mentioned that she was never particularly inclined towards reading, unlike her sister Shaheen, who was an avid reader and even completed the entire Harry Potter series. Alia fondly spoke about how both her mother, Soni Razdan, and Shaheen encouraged her to develop a reading habit.

Alia Bhatt Revealed Her Nature As A Child

In the concluding part of the interview, Alia Bhatt revealed that she had a hyperactive nature during her childhood, which made it challenging for her to sit still and engage in reading. Instead, she found solace in observing the world outside and deriving enjoyment from listening to others narrate stories, rather than reading them herself. Alia’s inclination towards outdoor activities and her preference for oral storytelling over reading were prominent features of her formative years.
