The Bookseller – News – UniPress launches non-fiction imprint Riverside Press

UniPress is launching Riverside Press, a new non-fiction imprint aiming to publish books to “illuminate the world around us”.

Riverside Press will publish across nature writing, popular science, history, philosophy and language with Everest 24: New Views on the 1924 Mount Everest Expedition, produced in collaboration with the Royal Geogrpahical Society, to launch the new list.

An as-yet untitled  study of “the stories told by ancient trees” edited by dendroclimatologist Valerie Trouet also joins the list alongside titles by conservationist Astrid Vargas and a new edition of Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations, illustrated by Joanna Lisowiec.

Jenny Manstead, founder and managing director, commented: “We chose this name not only in recognition of our location on the banks of the river Thames but also to evoke our mudlarking attitude to the world around us: digging in, unearthing and examining different aspects of the natural world and our relationship to it.”

Founded in 2019 as a co-edition publisher, UniPress launched their UK trade list in 2024.

Manstead added: “Riverside Press is our only imprint and first foray into publishing as ourselves. It is gratifying to be distributed by Abrams & Chronicle Books in the UK and Hardie Grant in ANZ as they are already wonderful co-edition partners for us. Our new venture is a natural extension of our working relationship with all three companies.”
