A Wiggenhall St Germans poet is set to launch his second book , with real-life tales about his life.
Tony McIntosh, who published his poetry collection named “Assorted Musings” last year, has been busy writing poems for his second book, entitled “A Bardic Melange”.
The book has a total of 36 poems based on some of Tony’s life experiences, including being on a cruise ship with his wife 24 years ago in stormy waters.
Tony said: “We were sailing from Israel up to the southern Turkish coast. A friend of ours went up to the top deck at midnight and she came back down and told us the crew were all dressed in lifejackets on the decks.
“She asked if we were expecting a storm and they replied that rough weather was expected. Early hours of the next morning before we got anywhere near the port, we woke up and thought the ship was going to keel over.”

Another poem Tony has written about his local pub, the Crown and Anchor in Wiggenhall St Germans, which was saved from closure by members of the community .
“I got a buzz from doing the first book, I’ve just enjoyed doing it and thought I’d do some more,” said Tony, who also dedicated one of his poems to his granddaughter.
Another poem featured in the book is dedicated to a Wiggenhall St Germans church member who has died. It is titled “You are the glue”.
“Her widow asked if I would read the poem out at her funeral. I was delighted and privileged to do that,” added Tony.
A Bardic Melange is available to buy through all major book retailers including Waterstones, Amazon and WH Smiths.
