James Gunn reveals Peacemaker Season 2 will follow the events of his Superman movie.
The second season has been filming which sees John Cena return as the titular character, Christopher Smith.
James Gunn fielded questions on social media about Peacemaker Season 2.
A fan questioned, “How is Peacemaker season 2 coming along? Will it pick up where the first season left off or will it be very different to signify that the first season isn’t canon?”
Gunn replied, “It essentially picks up where season 1 left off with a couple minor differences.”
Another fan questioned how it relates to his his Superman movie: “Will Peacemaker release before or after Superman?”
Gunn replied, “After. It follows the events of Superman.”
Superman gets released July 11, 2025. Peacemaker Season 2 is expected later in 2025.
While Peacemaker spun off from Gunn;s 2021 film The Suicide Squad, Gunn previously confirmed Season 1 isn’t canon to his new DCU.
The series follows John Cena as Christopher Smith, also known as Peacemaker, a jingoistic killer who believes in achieving peace at any cost, regardless of how many people he has to kill to get it. The narrative picks up after the events of The Suicide Squad, with Peacemaker recovering from his injuries and being recruited by a secret government organization known as A.R.G.U.S. to eliminate high-level threats.
