26 Apr Top line-up of authors headline latest Children’s Book Festival
STAHS Children’s Book Festival returns to Wheathampstead in June, with a bumper bill of award-winning authors and illustrators.
MG Leonard, bestselling author of the Beetle Boy and Twitchers series, leads this year’s line-up, backed by her Adventures on Trains series co-author Sam Sedgman, and Manjeet Mann, who won the 2021 Costa Children’s Book Award for her YA novel, The Crossing.
Steven Vinacour, author of the Ted and His Time-Travelling Toilet series, and illustrator Amanda Quartey, who collaborated with Manjeet Mann on award-winning picture book, Small’s Big Dream, also feature.
Book signings and photo opportunities will follow their interactive talks and storytelling sessions, giving young bookworms the opportunity to meet and engage with their literary heroes.
Julia Donaldson’s Zog is also scheduled to put in an appearance at the festival, which will be held in the grounds of STAHS Prep on Saturday June 8. Art and craft activities, a well-stocked food court, pop-up book shop and adventure playground are among the additional attractions on offer.
Some of the big names who have appeared at the three previous BookFests include Simon Pegg, David Baddiel, Onjali Rauf, Rob Biddulph, Nick Butterworth and SF Said.
The festival will run from 10am to 5pm, with tickets costing £50 for a family of four, £15 for adults, and £12 for students, seniors, and children aged four to 17. Under fours are free, and free parking will be available at Marford Playing Fields.
