Ideas for novels may pop easily into a beginning writer’s head, but how to turn that idea into a complete novel is often a problem. Award-winning author Richard Gartee discusses the process of how to start and finish a novel in his workshop “How to Write Your First Novel (or 2nd or 3rd)” at the Ponte Vedra Writers meeting, 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Gartee will discuss the process of novel writing from first draft to final proofread. First-time novelists or even those working on their second or third books will pick up helpful tips on how to keep creativity flowing, reduce the number of revisions and save your editor time. Gartee is an award-winning novelist, poet and nonfiction author. His 27 published books include six novels, six collections of poetry, a novella, a biography, a history of the Hippodrome Theatre and seven college textbooks. He is a member of Writers Alliance of Gainesville, the Florida Writers Association and a founding member of the Sunshine State Book Festival committee. The Ponte Vedra Writers group is part of the Florida Writers Association, a statewide membership organization dedicated to the support of both aspiring and published writers in any genre. The June 22 meeting is free and open to members and nonmembers alike.
