Viewing the New Tiffany Blue Book Collection in Hong Kong

Much ado and publicity have always followed American jewellery brand Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book collections, especially when a new edition makes its debut.

The book, named after Tiffany’s signature robin-egg hue, traces its origins back to 1845 as a mail-order catalogue that brought fine jewellery to American households. In the decades that followed, it evolved into an annual publication, showcasing Tiffany’s most exceptional and rare high jewellery creations, much like a version of “haute couture” in the fashion industry. Among its famous entries are the Tiffany Diamond, which at 128.54 carats remains one of the largest and finest fancy yellow diamonds ever discovered, and the Jean Schlumberger Bird on a Rock brooch.

This year’s Blue Book, titled Tiffany Céleste, and its accompanying fine jewellery collections, were designed by Nathalie Verdeille, the brand’s chief artistic officer of jewellery and high jewellery. Verdeille’s second book, it covers six distinct chapters: Wings, Arrow, Constellation, Iconic Star, Ray of Light and Apollo. Céleste rolls out in three phases over the course of 2024, debuting in the spring, and followed by summer and autumn launches.

The largest Blue Book collection to date, Tiffany Céleste features 157 pieces at hefty price points. According to Verdeille, Céleste is an ode to Schlumberger, the legendary jeweller who joined Tiffany & Co. in 1956 and became famous for his fantastical nature-inspired creations. Schlumberger was well known for his boundless imagination and his fascination with the mysteries of the universe.

“The Tiffany Blue Book collection tells the extraordinary story of our legendary craftmanship with the world’s most exceptional diamonds and gemstones,” says Anthony Ledru, Tiffany & Co.’s president and chief executive officer. “Each piece of this collection embodies the brilliance and legacy of Jean Schlumberger, as reimagined by Nathalie Verdeille.”

In the new Blue Book Collection, the Wings theme symbolises flight and fantasy and references Schlumberger’s famous designs featuring wing silhouettes, which Verdeille has transformed and reimagined into a luminous story rendered in diamonds and sapphires. The Ray of Light chapter takes inspiration from archival Schlumberger brooches and, using red spinels, emulates elusive beams of light and gilded sunrays. One of the most versatile designs within the Ray of Light collection is a necklace that converts into a tiara, a style absent from Tiffany Blue Book collections for several years.

This year, Tiffany Céleste’s first reveal was at a star-studded event in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles in April, which was attended by several of Hollywood’s most talked-about A-list celebrities. Hong Kong then had the privilege of becoming the next first stop after the Los Angeles launch.

Among the many luminaries who attended the event in this city, which was held on June 6 at Sky 100, were actors Park Hyung Sik and Fala Chen, who turned heads by pairing their looks with stunning pieces from the Wings Chapter. Chen glowed in a diamond necklace, set in 18k yellow gold with a diamond pendent of more than 20 carats, which she matched with diamond earrings, bracelet and ring. Park embellished his immaculate look with an eye-catching 18-carat diamond brooch that can be converted into a pendent, while on his wrist he wore the new Bird on a Flying Tourbillon watch. Breaking from a tradition of creating jewellery for women only, the Tiffany Céleste collection includes pieces designed for men, with brooches can be worn as pendants on necklaces for women, which is Verdeille’s interpretation of a new way to capture “his-and-hers” matching moments.

In another look, Chen was seen wearing an Iconic Star necklace studded with a 41-carat blue zircon, aquamarines, pearls and diamonds, which was paired with a gem-encrusted ring. She rounded off her look with a Bird on a Rock timepiece, which featured a plethora of precious stones. Park, meanwhile, showed off two Bird on a Rock Brooches, featuring bejewelled “feathered friends” perched atop exquisite precious stones.
